This week all classes worked on cooperative games! We played "Cross the River" aka "The Floor is Lava" and the students figured out how to cross the river with just the equipment they were given. It involved team work and communication.
In grades 3-8 we built hula huts out of hula hoops! All the teams had to have clear communication and work as a team. We practiced being a "losing" team and also introduced the "conflict corner". Ask your kids about what they learned about holding their hands out and palms up.
K-2 played musical hula hoops while working on their locomotor skills. They encouraged their classmates to join them in their hoops when there weren't hoops for everyone. I loved how so many of them got in one hoop! They were working together and having a great time!
Class expectations:
We strive to have a program that is focused on developing a spirit of enjoyment of physical activity. We want your students to have FUN!
I will emphasize the importance of using good sportsmanship and developing the valuable trait of perseverance when you are trying to learn a difficult skill.
I would rather students focus on doing their best, more so than "getting a passing grade." However, I also want to communicate clearly with my parents and students about the progress of each student in my class.
As always, let us know if you have any questions or if we can be of help in any way.
