Music: Week of September 19th-23rd
I hope that everyone had a wonderful week.
In Kindergarten, we are testing this week. Students are working on identifying opposites with our singing voice as highs and lows. We sang Baby Beluga and Old Blue this week.
In 1st-2nd grade, we are testing this week. We are organizing various dynamics (piano, mezzo piano, mezzo forte, and forte). We are learning about more typing of voices.

Older grades:
In 3rd and 4th grade, student finished their lyrics to You're A Grand Old School. Students will have to accompany a recording of You're A Grand Old Flag/School on boomwhackers for a grade.
In 5th-6th grade, we are going over the instruments of Africa. Some instruments we have discussed are the shakere, seed shaker, caxixi, and atoke, djembe, and ahoko. Knowing how to classify instruments according to idiophone, aerophone, membranophone, or chordophone is the goal.
Anything not finished in their African Instrument packet is homework.
In 7th-8th grade, we are working on time periods/genres of music. We are moving on to the 1920s music genre and learning about the Blues and Jazz.
