This week in ELA we finished up our portfolio meetings and now all have new goals in reading for the end of the school year. We continued practice on reviewing books and worked with a partner this week to see how our opinions can differ. We finished up our spelling unit and will get new units after break. This week we also started "The Great Mail Race" . We were invited by an elementary school in Alabama to join. The school wrote us a letter explaining how they are writing to one school in every state and asking them to fill out a survey answering questions about their school and state. Their goal is to compare how things are different around the country. Our students have decided they would also like to learn about schools in other states. Each student has picked a state and we are researching what schools we would like to send the surveys to. As we get responses back, we will mark the state off on a map. We hope to hear back from all 50 states! :) I hope everyone has a great mid-winter break! -Ms. Jamie
