Music: Week of April 11-14th

I  hope that everyone had a wonderful week. Music is always on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Younger Grades:

In Kindergarten, students were working on louds and softs as well as identifying rhythm and beats. Students were creating organizing sounds, creating their own composition with Rain, Rain Go Away. We created music using poems with the theme of rain.

1st-2nd Grade, students are identifying the elements of music in the Carnival of Animals. Students were comparing articulations such as legato vs, staccato, also melody vs harmony, We finished the aquarium this week.

In 3rd and 4th grade, we were working on how to take care of recorders, history of recorders. Students are working on lower fingers with both F#, E, and D. Students should be working on all songs up to their Green Belt It's Raining. Many students are moving on to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Students also studied their concert song Mission 5.

In 5th-6th grade, students are learning about Javanese and Balinese gamelan. They are reviewing and wrapping up for their end of unit quiz. Students need to complete this by this week. Our next unit is Hawaiian Music.

In 7th-8th grade, students are finishing their ukuleles and working on Sweet Home Alabama for the Spring Concert. All sources are found on musicplayonline.com.
