Music: Week of April 17-21st
I hope that everyone had a wonderful week. Music is always on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. There wasn't music on Thursday or Friday, due subbing.
Younger Grades:
In Kindergarten, students were working on louds and softs as well as identifying rhythm and beats. Students were singing If all the Rain Drops were Lemon Drops. We created music using poems with the theme of rain.
1st-2nd Grade, students played a Salish stick game and practiced identifying rhythms based on syllables. They were entirely independent with eighth notes, quarter notes, and triplets.
In 3rd and 4th grade, we were working on using F# in a piece and what it means for a note to be sharp or flat. Advanced students are transposing a 5th difference on Alto Recorder. Students are working on lower fingers with both F#, E, and D. Students should be working on all songs up to their Green Belt It's Raining. Many students are moving on to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Students also studied their concert song Mission 5.
If you would like your child to wear a mask while playing you can purchase this mask or make a similar mask for your child.

In 5th-6th grade, students are learning about Hawaiian music and Hawaii's Polynesia history. They learned about slack-key guitar, steel guitar, ukuleles, and cavaquinhos.
In 7th-8th grade, students are finishing their ukuleles and working on Sweet Home Alabama for the Spring Concert. Students are learning about tuning ukuleles independent from me. All sources are found on musicplayonline.com.
If anyone has an extra tuner they can donate or wants to purchase a clip on tuner to help students tune their instruments here is a link to purchase one:
I highly recommend students take advantage of our musicplayonline.com subscription. The student code is c211732.
