Junior Explorers 5/5/2023

Spring Fling is coming!

If you signed up to purchase something for the basket, could you please bring it to school on Monday so we have time to put it together and bring it to the hall?  If you signed up to bring something and need to check or want to get something else, here's the link:

Did you know that our class has been collecting dried out markers from the whole school?  We have a drop-off container outside of our room and slowly we've been turning them into something else.  I have been taking out the ink sponges and tips and saving them in jars.  We have added water this week and turned those jars of old marker bits into watercolor paint!  Ask your child if they can explain what I am doing with the plastic tubing.  Look below for some pictures of the process.

Continuing with the idea of being earth-conscious, on Friday we walked through the building to go through each recycling bin.  We checked to see if there was any trash that didn't belong, as well as looked for paper we could reuse in our room.  We found stacks of paper that we saved and will use in our writing space.

I'm sure you heard the news about the butterflies, but on Thursday morning we got to witness a live birth!  It was so cool to see the crumpled up wings.  I've never gotten to see it actually happen in all my years of teaching so this group of kids is pretty lucky.  We released the butterflies on Thursday and Friday.
