As we are getting into our regular routines, we have our assigned Classroom Jobs - kids will have new assignments every week! We will start our Leader of the week from next week, and we also had our month of students announced at the first Monthly Assemble this Friday. In math we are getting really good at our Math Rotation. We continue working on Place value, addition and subtraction within 1000/1.000.000. Next week I will add a math program to our rotation. They will be excited to use their chromebook for learning purposes! In Social studies we were learning more about Michigan. I introduced them to a book about Mackinac Bridge, we also learned about the importance of lighthouses. We were exploring the map of MI and figuring out which highway to take around to reach different locations, which they really loved! We also started to explore what natural resources Michigan has to offer.

This week in ELA we continued practice on planning our week out and being responsible for our independent work. We also started small reading groups this week. These groups will continue throughout the trimester. Each group has been assessed and will be working with the teacher at the best level for them.

This week in science we continued on with our earth processes unit. We discussed how our earth can be changed quickly (volcanoes, earthquakes, landslides) or slowly (weathering, erosion, and deposition). We were able to complete a mystery science activity where we answered the question, "Why do some volcanoes explode?" Ask me what I discovered!
