This week we worked on finishing up NWEA testing. We started with math and finished with reading. Ask your child about working on the computers with Ms. Sarah in the hallway. There was a lot of clicking, some dragging, and plenty of "best guesses."
Nursery rhymes continued with Little Miss Muffet, This Little Piggie, One Two Buckle my Shoe, and Star Light Star Bright. We talked about vocabulary like frightened, roast beef, cried, and wish. This is also a great time for us to work on meeting time expectations and appropriate conversation skills. Raising hands instead of shouting out, staying in one place instead of crawling around or leaving the area to play, listening to peer answers, and waiting turns.
We started social studies and science concepts this week! Our social studies unit is all about being a good citizen. This week we talked about rules and why we have them. In science we touched on what scientists do and looked at a variety of tools before we start to use them next week. Some of the completed work is going to be saved and collected to be passed out at the end of the unit. That way your child will have a nice collection of their learned knowledge that they can share with you!
Things to talk about from the week:
- Lunch in the classroom (after trying for a picnic lunch)
- Whole school meeting time
- Our 3 Branch Line rules
