It was a fantastic first week!
I honestly had so much fun getting to know your kids this week. We spent a lot of the time trying new things, sitting together for meeting times, and getting to know one another. We're working on names and hopefully soon your child will be able to mention a few new friends they've made.
Just a few notes on the things I've seen or ideas to help for next week:
- We try to stick to a fruit or vegetable for snack. There is a picnic table in the room where they can eat. They are allowed to make the decision on when they would like to eat. This is an independent activity. They feel hungry during the day, they go to their cubby, they grab their snack. If they need help opening a banana or bag they can walk up to a teacher. If you get a chance before Monday, help them understand which food is their snack and which is their lunch. The first few weeks I have kids trying to eat their entire bowl of chili or pudding cups at the snack table. The table is quite small for all of that!
- As of right now, there are no nut restrictions, so pack that peanut butter!
- Consider packing an extra set of clothes in a bag just in case. You never know what mud puddle is hiding around the corner!
- I usually don't go looking in backpacks every day. If there is something you want me to have, talk about it with your child, or send them into the building with it in their hands.
Next week we will look forward to new experiences like lunch time, music class, meeting Ms. Amy, a fire drill, nursery rhymes, and starting assessments.
Each week I really try to take pictures and put them in this spot every week. I will not post a picture of every child every week, but I try to make sure everyone is represented every few weeks or so. This is a great chance to look at pictures with your child and ask them what's going on!
