This week we tried out our new system of making choices. Your child may have mentioned using a clip to make a choice. I have a clothespin for every child. They use it to make a choice in the room. I ring a wind chime every 15 minutes or so to give them the opportunity to make a new choice. This helps with accountability. This also helps them work in new areas they don't usually go to.
iPads were introduced this week. They are a choice in the classroom with plenty of learning games. I also tried out our IXL program with the children. I use this daily along with our math curriculum. So if they talked to you about doing math on the iPads, that's what it was.
If you haven't brought in headphones, now would be a good time. We keep personal headphones at school for iPads. If you are unable to get any headphones, let me know. I have a limited amount of school headphones available.
Starting next week I will start having the children come to work with me twice a day in their small groups. Each group will have a color name. They'll work on reading skills in the morning and math skills in the afternoon.
