Older grades:
In 3rd and 4th grade, we are working on reviewing lines and spaces as well as creating a school fight song using the tune of You're a Grand Old Flag. They are working on composing and evaluating the lyrics of music.
In 5th-6th grade, we are working on reviewing treble clef note names and music class rules. We will be focusing on music cultures. Our first culture will be African. We are still waiting on students to turn in technology forms to their homeroom teacher.
I have a kalimba that students will be introduced to. If anyone has a kalimba or guiro, this class could use it.
In 7th-8th grade, we are working on time periods/genres of music. We are starting with the 1900s and working our way up to 2020s. We listened to John Philip Sousa and Scott Joplin and were introduced to marches and ragtime. We are still waiting on students to turn in technology forms to their homeroom teacher.
