Explorers - 9/9/22

 Hello Explorer Families!

We have been working on classroom expectations, morning meeting participation, and Branch Line agreements. Ask your student to tell you the 3 Branch Line agreements that are used throughout the school. We are so excited to meet and greet our new gym teacher, Miss Brianna - also known in our cohort as Elliette’s Mom!

In ELA, we have been practicing a variety of center activities; read to self, read with a partner, work on writing, word work, and playing a game with a partner. We will rotate through these activities during our literacy rotations. We will add technology to the mix very soon; everyone is excited to use our ipads.

In Science, we have been learning about being a scientist. Ask your child to tell you about our popcorn activity!

Our mathematicians have been working on a variety of skills this week.

Our first grade level students have been working on starting with a number and adding onto it using picture cues to guide their thinking.

Our second grade level students have been showing their knowledge of odd and even numbers using interlocking cube models to show their understanding.

Our third grade level students have started their journey on learning how to round numbers to the nearest 10 using a rounding chart.

Social studies this week focused on talking about families and communities.  We discussed what our families provide for each other and how a bigger school family can be thought of as a community.  Our school community works together to provide a safe and engaging educational environment that provides just what each student needs to be successful.

Have a terrific weekend!
