The weather is getting colder, please remember to send your child with a  jacket.  We will go outside every day weather permitting.

Please send a water bottle each day with your child. Being well hydrated improves mood, memory and attention.

A Peek at our Week

Language Arts- We are learning about the main idea of a passage or chapter. We are learning to go back into the story to look for supporting details.

Science - We are finishing up our unit on matter.

Math -

First grade level mathematicians are showing what they know using addition strategies to problem solve and will next venture on to subtraction skills.

Second grade level mathematicians showed their understanding of place value on our chapter assessment as well as practiced counting by fives and tens.

Our third grade level mathematicians continue working with estimating by rounding numbers to the nearest ten and hundred and mental math addition as well as test their skills on logic problems using individualized puzzle books we decided to use when finished with our classwork.

Social Studies - This week, we enjoyed a variety of seasonal activities including a story about Diwali.  Everyone created and decorated a clay candle bowl.  We also shared Halloween stories including one about a lonely little ghost.  Our students were asked to design a new costume idea for a ghost to make it easier for him to make friends.  The ideas were wonderful including an octopus costume, cat costumes and having the ghost dress as a human.
