Use geographic tools and technologies, stories, songs, and pictures to answer geographic questions about the United States, using maps to describe elevation, climate, and patterns of population density in the United States and using maps to describe elevation, climate, and patterns of population density in the United States.

This week in ELA we worked on picking out the most important parts of fiction stories to write a summary about them. We started a new spelling unit and wrote about our fall break in our journals. In reading groups we also practiced giving summaries of stories we read aloud and silently. Standards covered: RL.3.1-10, RI.3.1-10, RF.3.3-4, RL.4.1-10, RI.4.1-10, RF.4.3-4 In Science this week we continued to work on our bat projects. We researched some myths about bats and proved them wrong by finding out the real facts. Next week we are going to start making some brochures that will teach others about the importance of bats and why we should want them around. We raised $169.50 from our bake sale to buy bat house kits. These kits were ordered this week and should arrive in 7-10 days. Once they are here I will plan a day to assemble them. We will need some parent volunteers on this day, since the kits will involve a hammer and nails to assemble. Stay tuned for a sign up if you would like to help! Standards covered: W.3.7, W.4.7, SL.3.3, SL.4.3, 3-LS2-1, 3-LS4-3 -Ms. Jamie
