Investigators - 12/2/22

We have 9 bat houses available for our community.  If you would like a bat house for your yard, please email Ms Jamie to request one at JamieR@Branchlinschool.org. Bat houses must be hung 15 feet from the ground in an area that gets some sun throughout the day.

In our Math Rotations this week we have been working on: 


Mental Math: In this rotation, students have been working independently on their Mental Math Book called “Place Value.” 


At the Teacher’s Desk: In this rotation, students have been working on their assigned pages in their “Go Math” workbooks, Multiplication Facts and Strategies, Multiplying  2-Digit Numbers and Division.

 

Technology: In this rotation, students have been working on their “Go Math/Think Central” assignments or IXL on their Chromebooks. 


Have Fun With Games/Red Bin Work: In this rotation, students have been working on assigned pages in their workbooks or worksheets on various addition/subtraction skills or answering fact fluency questions in order to take their turn in the games played on Fun Fridays.


The standards that were used were: 3.OA.B.5, 3.OA.A.3, 4.OA.A.3, 4.NBT.B.6


In Social Studies we have been working on using primary and secondary sources to explain how migration and immigration affected and continue to affect the growth of Michigan, Identify questions geographers ask in examining the United States (e.g., Where it is? What is it like there? How is it connected to other places?, Use a case study or story about migration within or to the United States to identify push and pull factors (why they left, why they came) that influenced the migration, Use case studies or stories to describe the ideas and actions of individuals involved in the Underground Railroad in Michigan and in the Great Lakes region.


The standards that were used were: 4.G2.0.1, 4.G2.0.3, 4. G2.0.4, 4.H3.0.2

This week in ELA we started our mid-year reading checks. Each student read with Ms. Jamie individually to check for fluency, decoding, and comprehension skills. After this some reading groups may be adjusted to make sure all students are reading at the perfect level for them. We also started a new spelling unit, which we will finish up next week. Standards covered: RL.3.1-10, RI.3.1-10, RF.3.3-4, RL.4.1-10, RI.4.1-10, RF.4.3-4 In science this week we started a research flipbook on salmon. We learned about the different types of salmon and how they differ in look from each other. We reviewed the life cycle and learned some new interesting facts. Did you know that female salmon can carry up to 4,000 eggs at a time! Standards Covered: 3-LS2-1, 3-LS3-1,2, 3-LS4-1,2.3.4 -Ms. Jamie
