Innovators - 2/3/23

Hello Innovator Families,

In ELA, we are well into the drama of The Outsiders.  I love hearing stories from home about how the Innovators' parents are remembering their experience with the book or movie.  The Innovators are enjoying it too, which speaks to the novel's continued relevance.

In Science we have begun an electromagnetism project.  Students are choosing an modern day technology to investigate and will display their knowledge museum style after the February break.

Our hard work was interrupted by ELEVEN deer trotting past our window on Tuesday.  It was a fun break from learning and these pre-adults showed their kid selves by being mesmerized by the animals :)

Last week, our Innovators shared their Ancient Civilizations presentations and original games with the 5th and 6th grade classes. Having practiced multiple times within our own classrooms, our Innovators demonstrated a level of confidence, skill, and content knowledge that far exceeded their own expectations!

This week, we had an opportunity to create our own cuneiform tablets.

In Math, we are working with squaring numbers, finding square roots, and applying these skills to our work with the Pythagorean Theorem.
