This week was a bit scattered! We started many things and didn't get a chance to finish them because of schedule changes. I hope everyone got a chance to make a snowman on their bonus snow day!
The Gail Gibbons book we started this week was all about beavers. We learned some interesting facts about them. Did you know they have an extra set of clear eyelids to protect them while swimming? And a lot of children thought the beaver dam was the home, but it's actually just the plug to make a stream or river turn into a pond. They build a lodge with secret tunnels. And have you heard a beaver tail slap? We'll continue learning more beaver facts through next week as we finish the book.
Do you know what's hiding in melted snow? I went outside early in the week to scoop up clean snow. I brought it inside in a bags and we waited until it melted. Imagine the surprise to see tiny bits of dirt floating in the water! We talked about how even if the snow looks clean, dirt can blow onto it. So if you choose to eat snow you choose to put some of that in your mouth!
Things to talk about from the week:
- Junie B's scissor problem
- Snow in the classroom!
