Navigators 3/17/2023

  Navigator's 5th and 6th grade!!!  

Important Dates:

March 10 - HALF DAY- Dismissal at 11:25am
March 12 - Daylight Savings Time Starts
March 17 - Happy St. Patrick's Day
March 21 - Board Meeting
March 24 - HALF DAY - Dismissal at 11:25am

Navigator's 5/6 are selling KINDNESS GRAMS from Monday March 6th - Friday March 24th for $1!!!

Your student can purchase as many KINDNESS GRAMS as they would like for friends and teachers throughout this time.  The grams will be passed out the last week of March.  Each gram has a note saying, "May this small act of kindness brighten your day!" With each gram each a bracelet/small kindness prize will be included.  We are donating all the money collected for our community service project to "The Welcome Inn" for the homeless in Royal oak.  https://www.sochwi.org/

Ms. Jenn's Math and Science Class -

This week:    We added decimals up to the thousandths place and continued working on expanded, standard and word forms of decimals up to the thousandths place.  6th started plotting ordered pairs on the coordinate plane and continued adding and subtracting integers, putting them in order from least to greatest. In Science this week we continued to analyze and interpret data for patterns in the fossil record and found evidence in our reading to support claims made about fossils.

Ms. Sarah's ELA and Social Studies Class-

This week:  The students have been working on informative writings in ELA. In 5th grade social studies, we have been focusing on explorers. In 6th grade social studies, we have been working on human environment interactions. We also have been working on community projects as we continue our Welcome Inn collections. More information is on this below.
  • We are both  in need of disinfectant wipes! If you would like to donate these items, please let us know or send them in with your student:)     Thank YOU!

Next week:  
We will continue working on our ELA writing assignments and reading. 5th graders will also be focusing on our Explorer projects. 6th graders will focus on their Global issues projects.

Extras:
  • We have been working on our community project for the Welcome Inn. We are collecting donations through the month of March. These are items we are collecting:
    1. Mini shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, and soap bottles
    2. female sanitary products
    3. tooth brushes
    4. combs
    5. individually wrapped snacks that do not require cooking or refrigeration
    6. breakfast foods that do not require cooking or refrigeration
