Junior Explorers 5/19/2023

Has your child started talking about show-and-tell?  One of our students won a prize and has been a great first example of show-and-tell this week.  Starting next week, every Tuesday and Thursday we'll have show-and-tell in our classroom!  I'm sure you remember how it works.  Bring one item to show to the class and talk about.  I will ask that those items stay in lockers or cubbies for the rest of the day.  Every Tuesday and Thursday from now on!  Hooray!

Your child might also be mentioning money and a class store.  Next week I'm starting a mini economy in the classroom.  Their job is to be a good student.  When they get their responsibilities done, they'll earn a money.  That money can be used later on in a classroom store.  In this mini unit we'll talk about the importance of saving and spending, goods and services, and banking.  They will be taking home small items like little notebooks or toys after choosing to spend their money at the store.

Our weather unit ended this week.  We celebrated by building a shade structure and testing it out.  We know the sun can affect the earth's surface.  A great lesson right before summertime.

*A large bottle of Supergoop sunscreen was donated to our classroom.  If you want your child to put sunscreen on midday before outside time, let me know with a quick text or email.  All I need is a written confirmation.  I have pictures of the bottle if you would like more details on ingredients.*

Things to talk about from the week:

  • Cleaning up the playground
  • Paper chain countdown
  • A big kid hanging out with us all day
