Phew! Week One of art is the books. It was wonderful to meet all our BLS artists!
The beginning of the school year is always a hustle, but making art together is so worth it.
Our younger grades made paper sculptures—I suspect a few of these are hanging on refrigerators in their homes! And the older grades designed covers for their sketchbooks. Their sketchbooks will be a place for students to explore new materials, build skills, and have some sketchbook fun!
We also spent time discussing expectations for Art Class. We are working on staying calm, seated, respectful, and using materials appropriately. We are starting out building foundational skills, and we will move on to watercolor, tempera paint, and eventually to clay (my personal favorite to teach,) and papier-mâché
I am excited to work with our Branch Line School artists this year! I have so many fun projects lined up for the year!
