**Classroom snacks are fresh fruits or vegetables only, please no dips.
**All students need a pair of labeled headphones.

This week in ELA we continued to meet with the teacher one on one to do reading checks. These help to find our perfect reading level. Next week, we will be grouped and start our small group reading lessons. We are now getting pretty good at our reading daily five centers and are working on managing time to get our independent work done by the end of the week. We also completed our NWEA reading test this week. This test is given 3 times a year to monitor our growth and progress in reading. It is just another way to check in and make sure each student is learning at the right level for them.

This week in science we completed our "what is science?" posters. We then began our first earth science unit on earth processes. We were able to look at volcanoes and map where they form around the world. We observed patterns and discovered that a volcano is not likely to form in Michigan. Ask me about where volcanoes are more likely to form!

As we are getting into our regular routines, we are ready to pick our Classroom Jobs - kids will have new assignments every week! They are really excited to find out what their special jobs will be!

In math we started working on our Math Rotation, it will take some time to get used to, but they are already doing great during small group work. We started working on Place value, addition and subtraction within 1000.

In Social studies we were learning about the different landforms in our great state of Michigan, 5 Great Lakes (HOMES) and the temperature and climate changes that occur in our area. The students are discovering the ways our forests and orchards are important for the biodiversity in Michigan.
