Exciting Recess Games and Fun Fitness for Your Kids
Monday: Switching it Up with Four Square
This week kicked off with an exciting game of "Switch" on the four square court. Not only did your children have a fantastic time staying active and engaged, but they also had the opportunity to practice essential social skills, including good sportsmanship.
In PE class, we believe that being a good sport is just as crucial as being physically active. It's not only about winning or losing but also about how we play the game and how we treat our peers. "Switch" provides an excellent platform for these lessons:
- Encouraging teamwork: When playing "Switch," your kids learned that working together and finding new squares quickly is the key to success.
- Handling wins and losses: Whether they found a new square or ended up at the end of the line, your children experienced the highs and lows of the game, teaching them resilience and humility.
Wednesday: Four Square and 2 Square Fun
Our Wednesday activities continued to focus on good sportsmanship. In both four square and 2 square, your children learned the importance of:
- Respecting opponents: Whether it's hitting the ball gently in 2 square or making a great move in four square, your kids learned to show respect for their peers, even in competition.
- Communication: Games like these encourage children to communicate and cooperate, even with peers who might not be their best friends.
These valuable lessons extend far beyond the PE class. Being a good sport is a skill that serves your children well in all aspects of life. It helps them build positive relationships, work effectively with others, and approach challenges with a positive attitude.
We encourage you to continue discussing the importance of good sportsmanship with your children at home. Remind them that being a good sport is not just about winning or losing but about the journey of self-improvement and building meaningful connections with their peers.
Next week we will be starting our Fitness Unit! Stay tuned!
