Junior Explorers - 8/25/22

What a fun-filled week!

We started our nursery rhyme unit with some familiar (or unfamiliar) rhymes.  We are listening to the rhymes, analyzing them, finding the rhyming words, and making connections to illustrations.  We've talked about 'Roses are Red' and 'Ring around the Rosie.'  See if your child remembers them!

I know this was our first experience with full days.  One trend I'm noticing is the amount of food they're eating.  We have lunch time at 11:25.  It is 20 minutes long.  I wish it was longer, but we're working on being efficient.  The lunch teachers work on eating important food first, talking less, and trying to stay organized.  If they need help opening something, the children raise their hands.  Unfortunately, many of the children are still saying they are hungry when they come back from lunch.  This might take time to regulate.  We just remind them to try to focus on eating and maybe save their fruit and veggies for a snack later.

Ms. Amy started with us and has been pretty busy working one-on-one getting assessments done.  We're trying to figure out what letters your child knows, what level they are reading, etc... As you can imagine this takes time.  When we know more, I will start the children on their learning groups.  More information to come on that later.

Here are some quick notes from the week.  Ask your child what they remember about them!

  • The hello and goodbye songs in music class
  • The fire drill on Thursday
  • Meeting Ms. Jasmine
  • Ms. Amy's questions
