Investigators - 9/30/22

 In our Math Rotations this week we have been working on: 


Mental Math: In this rotation, students have been working independently on their Mental Math Book called “Back to School.”


At the Teacher’s Desk: In this rotation, students have been working their assigned pages in their “Go Math” workbooks, compatible numbers, rounding, subtraction worksheets/skills and adding 3-digit numbers. I have also began working going over testing data with students as we go over their students portfolios.


Technology: In this rotation, students have been working on their “Go Math/Think Central” assignments or IXL on their Chromebooks. 


Have Fun With Games/Red Bin Work: In this rotation, students have been working on assigned pages in their workbooks or worksheets on various addition/subtraction skills or answering fact fluency questions in order to take their turn in the games played on Fun Fridays.


The standards that were used were: 3.MD.B.3 , 3.0A.D.8, 3.NBT.A.1, 3.NBT.A.2, 4.NBT.A.2, 4.NBT.A.3, 4.NBT.A.1, 4.NBT.B.4


In Social Studies we have been working on being able to Identify questions political scientists ask in examining the United States (e.g. What does the government do? What are the basic values and principles of American democracy? What is the relationship of the United States to other nations? What are the roles of the citizens in American democracy? Use cardinal and intermediate directions to describe the relative location of significant places in the United States. AND Identify and describe the characteristics and purposes (e.g., measure distance, determine relative location, classify a region) of a variety of geographic tools and technologies (e.g., globe, map, satellite image).


The standards that were used were: 4.E1.0.1, 4.C1.0.1, 4.G1.0.2, 4.G1.0.2

This week in ELA we started a main idea unit. We read some informational text with a partner and had to pick out the main idea and key details. We highlighted where we found this information in the text. We also finished our first spelling unit. We will receive new lists and activities next week.  Standards covered: RL.3.1-10, RI.3.1-10, RF.3.3-4, RL.4.1-10, RI.4.1-10, RF.4.3-4 In science this week we started our research on different species of bats. We looked at the gray-headed flying fox, leaf nosed bat, free-tailed bat, and the bumblebee bat. We will be planning some fundraising soon to be able to buy and build some bat houses to pass out around our community to help save the bats in our area.  Standards covered:  W.3.7, W.4.7, SL.3.3, SL.4.3, 3-LS2-1, 3-LS4-3 -Ms Jamie
