Junior Explorers - 1/13/23

This week we spent a few days getting back into the groove of things.  We did some review of the things we learned and classroom procedures.  I'm proud to say we didn't really forget much!  Testing started this week too.  NWEA MAP testing is done 3 times a year in the kindergarten class.

Our Mo Willems author study is coming to a "soft" end this week.  We will always discuss his work because he's a favorite, but it is time to move on to a new author.  I gave some hints that our new author created non-fiction books so it is a nice change of pace.

In science we are going to start moving on to force and motion.  I'm going to hold off on weather and plants until spring when we can experience those things better in real-time.  You might have noticed a bear den come go home on Thursday.  We got pretty creative so check out below for our work.

We are continuing to talk about the past and explored how people moved around long ago.  We watched someone drive a model of the first car ever made.  We guessed what kids played with long ago (without technology!!!) and how they stayed busy.  We watched kids react to record players and were surprised that some of them would not want to have one in their house.  We think they're cool!

Things to talk about from the week:

  • Gears in science area
  • Making a bear home
  • Painting blobs and outlining them
  • Knuffle Bunny
We love Mo Willems!
