Dear Innovator Families,
It's midnight, do you think your child is asleep? From the conversations we hear all through the day, we don't think they are! Many kids, from different friend groups, openly tell us they are up til 1, 2 and 3 in the morning on games and Discord, talking with each other. For children in school, this is unacceptable. Their health and learning are in danger.
We have kids sleeping during class. We have kids complaining of pain in joints in hands, wrists and neck from constant device use. We have kids chronically sick because their bodies have not recovered from the last cold or virus they've had.
Please check in on your kiddos. What you thought was their regular routine many have changed. IF you think this type of behavior is "just typical middle school," that is false. You are in charge of your child's routine. There are many creative ways to change this behavior. The following links have great suggestions and information to help:
Mackinac Trip:
All scheduled payments listed in the permission slips have passed. I have sent emails detailing the remaining balance to be paid TOMORROW, APRIL 1! Then we are DONE and can focus on looking forward to the trip!
SPRING FLING PARTY
Spring is here and so is the return of the SPRING FLING! For this night of dinner, dancing and raffle fun, each class donates a themed basket. Please consider supporting your student's homeroom by donating items or $5-10 cash so we can buy for the baskets. Miss Jenni's room is doing a Star Wars themed basket and Dr. Chery's room is doing a Baking themed basket.
In Social Studies, students are finalizing their research on Ancient Greece. Ask your Innovator what story they plan to share with the class about Ancient Greek civilization next week. In Math, we have been working with area, perimeter, angles, triangles, and the area and circumference of circles. Ask your Innovator to explain how we used yarn to figure out that the circumference of every circle is about three times its diameter on Pi Day.
BIG NEWS!!! On Curriculum Night, you will have an opportunity to play the Ancient Civilizations games the Innovators invented and view a slide show that captures the many creative projects they explored during our Passion Projects weeks! Looking forward to sharing their work and learning with you!
Feel free to contact us via email, text, or call.
