In Social Studies we have been working on Identifying questions political scientists ask in examining the United States (e.g., What does government do? What are the basic values and principles of American democracy? What is the relationship of the United States to other nations? What are the roles of the citizens in American democracy?).

Explain probable consequences of an absence of government and of rules and laws.

Describe the purposes of government as identified in the Preamble of the Constitution. As well as explaining how the principles of popular sovereignty, rule of law, checks and balances, separation of powers, and individual rights (e.g., freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom of press) serve to limit the powers of the federal government as reflected in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The standards that were used were: 4.C1.0.1, 4.C1.0.2, 4.C1.0.3, 4.C2.0.1

Thank you,

Ms. Chantel

This week in ELA we continued our folktale unit and read some tall tales. We will finish up with some myths and legends before moving on to our poetry unit! We talked about how tall tales always have much exaggeration in the stories. We started a new spelling unit, and we will finish it up next week.  Standards Covered: RL.3.2, RL.3.3, Rl.4.2, RL.4.3, RL.4.6 In Science this week, we finished up talking about plate tectonics. We did a fun experiment where we used graham crackers (to represent earth's crust) and shaving cream (to represent earth's mantle) We floated the graham crackers on the shaving cream as we moved these graham crackers to show convergent, divergent, and transform boundary lines. We were able to observe how trenches and mountain ranges are formed.  Standards covered: 4-ESS1-1, $-ESS2-2, 4-ESS3-2 -Ms. Jamie
