Music: Week of May 8th-12th
I hope that everyone had a wonderful week. Music is always on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
I have had some difficulties getting a location for the Spring Concert and have reached out to four locations. If anyone has suggestions please email me cassieb@branchlineschool.org.
Younger Grades:
In Kindergarten, students were working on louds and softs as well as identifying rhythm and beats. Students were singing Old MacDonald Had a Farm and traced the names of various animals related. Students had to create their own animal to go on Old MacDonald's Farm. Students were identifying what various instruments were made of and how we can identify what an object is made of by using it's sound.
1st-2nd Grade, students reviewed Rondeau with three different sections, which is ternary form. Students learned a Japanese Frog song called Kaeru no uta ga. Student played boomwhackers to this piece and sang in Japanese. They had to identify the different solfege of the piece.
In 3rd and 4th grade, we were working on sharps vs. flats. What are sharps and flats how do they work? I demonstrated the concept using boomwhackers with a special chromatic set of boomwhackers. Then students played guess that Disney Song boomwhacker edition.
If you would like your child to wear a mask while playing you can purchase this mask or make a similar mask for your child.

In 5th-6th grade, students are learning about Australia and aboriginal music/instruments. Students reviewed the elements of music harmony, melody, dynamics, rhythm, timbre, and form using Australian music.
In 7th-8th grade, students are finishing their ukuleles and working on Sweet Home Alabama.. Students just learned about the D and G chord this week. Students are sounding fantastic on their ukuleles.
If anyone has an extra tuner they can donate or wants to purchase a clip on tuner to help students tune their instruments here is a link to purchase one:
I highly recommend students take advantage of our musicplayonline.com subscription. The student code is c211732.
